THE AT HOME MANICURE

There’s something about a beautiful manicure.  it looks and feels elegant, but having it done by a pro all the time can add up so if your looking to save money & a little time - or your locked down & your manicurist is closed - try our DIY manicure at home—for a fraction of the cost.

STEP ONE

Remove any old polish. Trim your nails using a nail clipper.

Try and trim each nail to the same length. This make shaping them alot easier.

STEP TWO

Soaking your hands in warm soapy water to soothe and soften dead skin cells.

STEP THREE

Shape your nails with a nail file.

An almond or oval shape gives the illusion of a longer nail however a square or square/oval nail is easier to achieve at home. Begin filing from the edge of the nail moving file around to the tip.

STEP FOUR

Tidy the cuticles. Use a cuticle softener on each nail before gently pushing the cuticles back using a cuticle stick. Once done, wipe nails to remove the oil.  If you have any loose skin you can clip with cuticle clippers but take care to not to overdo it.

STEP FIVE

Buff your nails. This creates an even surface for your nail polish to adhere to - only buff you nail in one direction.

STEP SIX

Gently massage your hands with a hand cream - why not Hand Combat Healing Hand balm -it’s the bomb. hand balm

STEP SEVEN

Apply a as coat. This protects your nails and ensures your manicure lasts longer.

STEP EIGHT

Apply polish.  Use a colour of your choice - we suggest Opi - you’ll be certain to find a colour that speaks to you.  Apply the polish towards the base of the nail and soft push it towards the cuticle to ensure you have a neat edge and then bring it up to the tip of the nail  If you’re not confident in your polish skills, choose a neutral colour which will hide any flaws.

Once you’ve finished the first coat on both hands, do a second coat to ensure an even colour. Give your polish a few minutes to dry.

STEP NINE

Apply top coat. This seals your manicure, helps to prevent chips and adds a glossy finish

Drying tips: use quick dry drops or a give nails a blast with a hair dryer.

STEP TEN

Finish the manicure with a cuticle oil. This hydrates the nails and cuticles to help prevent any dry, cracked skin around the nail. Nourished cuticles will ensure your manicure looks fresh for longer.
